DataRobot helps teams build and compare machine-learning models for prediction, classification, and related analytical tasks. Its automated modeling workflow can accelerate baseline comparisons and provide a structured environment for examining model performance and explaining predictions.
Automated model selection does not guarantee valid research conclusions. Leakage, biased or unrepresentative data, poor target definitions, and evaluation on an unsuitable split can make performance estimates look better than they will be in practice; model explanations also do not establish causation.
Define the prediction target and evaluation plan before modeling, keep test data separate from model development, and compare against a simple baseline. Inspect subgroup performance, document preprocessing and model choices, and treat explanations as diagnostic evidence rather than proof of causal mechanisms.
